Located at Ile Saint-Louis, near Notre Dame Cathedral, in a 16th century building you are taken back to the medieval times at Nos Ancetres les Gaulois.

The restaurant has expanded a few times since it opened in 1969. The most significant one was in 1972 when the owners expanded and took over the neighbouring store. As they were renovating they uncovered beautiful stone corbels which had been used to support a drawbridge. That is when they discovered that this place was a gatehouse for a very old church.

Currently the restaurant covers 5 different buildings from 16th and 17th century with each room keeping its original charm.

Nos Ancetres les Gaulois offers all inclusive buffet, with meat, vegetable and fruit baskets, cheese, desert and of course lovely wine poured directly from the barrel for a fixed price of €40 at the time of writing this article.

You will also be entertained by live musicians.

However this restaurant is not recommended for intimate dinner rendez-vouz. It is a place to go when you want to sing, dance, drink and be merry.
