Metro: Anvers, Abbesses Montmartre Hill, the highest natural point in Paris and where you have a gorgeous view of the city, is definitely a Paris Must See.  Sacré-Coeur is the white gorgeous church sitting 129 meters above sea level on top of the Montmartre Hill in Paris. From the Metro station Anvers, you can walk your way up the hill towards the church and then take the tram (Funiculaire at Rue du Cardinal DuBoist) to the church or take the 300+ stairs. Montmartre Funuculaire will cost you one metro ticket. The construction of Sacré-Coeur was due to the promise to God made by Alexandre Legentil and Rohault de Fleury for Paris to be saved from invasion and damage during the Franco-Prussian war. The construction of Sacré-Coeur began in 1876 and it took about 40 years for this Romanesque / Byzantine styled structure to complete. Inside the church you will find beautiful paintings and statues. Also, one of the largest bells in the world is housed in this church. SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESAfter visiting the church, follow the signs to Place du Tertre, where amateur artists gather with fresh beautiful paintings. There are some decent coffee shops at Place du Tertre, but they are a little pricey for being in a touristy area. At the corner of the Rue Saint Vincent and the Rue des Saules, you can find the 150 year old cabaret, Au Lapin Agile, which may be worth your visit. You will immediately notice the famous sign of the rabbit jumping out of the saucepan. Sacré-Coeur and Place du Tertre make up the best parts of the 18th district of Paris. You can also enjoy a train ride through the Montmartre district of Paris known as Promotrain. The train ride is about 40 minutes with English or French commentary. The highlights of the ride include Sacré-Coeur church, the vineyards, Montmartre cemetery, Place du Tertre and Moulin Rouge. The train departs from Place Blanche and stops at Place du Tertre from 10 am – 6 pm (closes later during summer). Round trip cost  for adults 6.50 € and 4.50 € for kids 2 to 12 years old. Accepting cash only. At the bottom of the hill, at 82 Blvd de Clichy, you can find Moulin Rouge, the famous night club where Cancan dance was born. There are two sittings to view the shows, one with dinner and one without. You can book your Moulin Rouge Paris tickets online, in order to guarantee yourself a seat. eiffel tower logo Travel Tip: Be aware of Place Pigalle, (the red-light district) and other streets in this area or arrondissement.
