Chapelle Expiatoire was built over the original burial site of Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette and a few thousand other victims of the French Revolution. (They are not burried here anymore). The construction of this chapel was ordered by Louis XVIII to honour Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. This Neo-Classical monument took 10 years to build. Chapelle Expiatoire is built in a form of a Greek cross.
You can also find the statue of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette at this church.
On January 21, an annual mass is held to honour Louis XVI.
Unfortunately, parts of the chapel got damaged in a storm in 2009.
