The idea of building Sacré-Coeur belonged to Alexandre Legentil and Hubert Rohault de Fleury who proposed the building of Sacré-Coeur as a Spiritual remedy e to France’s recent misfortune during the war of 1870 between France and Germany. Sacre Coeur was dedicated to the Scared Heart of Jesus as opposed to majority of other church’s in France which were dedicated to Virgin Mary.
The construction of this gorgeous white church began in 1875 and took about 40 years to complete.
