Metro: Trocadéro, Bir Hakeim, Champ de Mars – La Tour Eiffel, Pont de l’Alma
You probably have the best view of the Eiffel Tower from Palais de Chaillot at Place du Trocadéro.
You can spend some time at Palais de Chaillot, which includes a Marine / Navy Museum, Museum of Man and the Museum of French Monuments. There are some good cafes at Place du Trocadéro, particularly Cafe Carette.
Major fireworks are held around the Eiffel Tower, especially on the 14th of July. Trocadéro is one the best places to watch this show.
Pont d’Iéna connects Place de Chaillot to the Eiffel Tower. You can walk through the gardens and across the Seine to La Tour Eiffel.
The Eiffel Tower (7 arrondissement) was built for the World Exhibition in 1889, celebrating the French Revolution. The 324 Meter-high metal (puddle iron) structure was built by Gustave Eiffel as a temporary monument. It took 2 years to build the tower and it did not take long for La Tour Eiffel to become the symbol of Paris. 15000 pieces of metal were used in the construction of the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower consists of 3 landing floors. The first one is 57.63 meter above ground, the second floor is 115.75 meter above ground and the third floor is 276.13 meter high.
There are two restaurants at the tower. At the first floor you can find 58 Tour Eiffel, formerly Altitude 95.
The famous and pricey restaurant, Le Jules Verne, is located on the second floor of the tower. It is better to make a reservation in advance. You can also find a Champagne Bar as well as a Buffet at the Eiffel Tower.
There are 2 elevators that can take people up the tower. It costs about 25 € to get to the top of the tower. The Eiffel Tower is open every day of the year.
After visiting the tower, if you have time, head towards Dôme des Invalides (cannot miss the golden dome), and the Dome Church, where you can find Napoleon’s Tomb. By the order of Louis XIV, the Dome was built to be a burial site for the royal families.
If you like sculptures, then Musée Rodin may be worth your visit at 77 Rue de Varenne. You will find The Thinker in the garden of this museum.
